The Cairn O’ Mount is a hill about 4 ½ miles north of Fettercairn on the road between Fettercairn and Strachan in Deeside. The road dates from at least Roman times, and is one of the first in Scotland to be blocked by snow in winter – in times gone by it would have been impassable for several months of the year. From the top are beautiful and extensive views south over the Mearns, and north over Aberdeenshire.
